Oil Spill in the Yellowstone River

Post by April » Mon Jul 04, 2011 2:23 pm

I just saw this on the news. They seemed to have trapped the Oil Spill within a 10 mile range, however its threatening to spread even as far as the Mouissari River (sorry if I spelled that wrong). THe Oil Spill was caused from a pipe leakage. Don't ask my WHY there's an oil pipe traveling along the River bed, that just seems...stupid to me but...idk. So far nobody can tell how bad the damage is.

-Topic moved to Wildlife-

Anyway, sad to hear about this. I do hope it doesn't become too severe.

Apparently a pipe ruptured or something of the sort. Reports say the water was black with oil.

I was just reading on this and rushing to make a topic. They say they have no idea how long it'll take to clean it all up. I pray it's soon.

Yeah but seriously who would have a pipe underwater? That is the most dangerous place to put a pipe, if you had it above ground at least if it spilled it wouldn't be swept away on fast flowing currents and spread miles away.

I recently heard about this as well, and I agree with April. I don't think putting a pipe under the river was a smart idea. I'm hoping this can be cleaned up quickly.

Even the ranchers are complaining, saying they don't want their livestock (cows, etc.) to drink from the water

Yea, you can't blame 'em. That water must be auful for the wildlife, that's why I hate when things like this spill happen :(

This is quite sad but yes as you said its not very smart to put a oil pipe under a river?
They were thinking this when they did it: Oh yeah lets put this oil pipe here so if it spills it don't dirty the grass!
I mean honestly.
Hunting is not destruction and i get annoyed by people all ways going like: OOO your killing the animals!
I just say: No. its population managment, and could someone who hates animals know so much about them?

Haha XD But grass grows back! Plus it takes longer for oil to soak into the groundwater than it does to be carried away for miles by the river.
