UPDATE:The oddest bug I have ever seen :UPDATE

Post by unokitsune » Tue Aug 18, 2009 9:42 pm

I don't have a picture of this bug and I've only saw this bug once back in 04-05 at Tacoma Community College in Tacoma Washington State.

This bug looked like a cross between a pincer bug, an ant and a scorpian! It had the head of an ant, a body of a pincer bug, and it had a tail that curled like a scorpian. And believe it or not it hissed at me and used it's tail and began flinging it at me.

I'm not sure what that bug was, I should of killed it to save it to take a picture of it, but it was aggressive and a part of me said "POISONOUS!" so I backed away. I never saw it again and I know when I saw it, it was warmer sunnier weather.

UPDATE: I just did a ridiculous search and I found a bug that looks almost EXACTLY like the bug I saw: http://www.simplegiftsfarm.com/hard-bac ... eetle.html
Except the bug was small, red, and had a stinger on the end.

yeah. I told my friends about it but they didn't believe me. It was the strangest bug I have ever seen. I tried looking for it again within that week, but at that time I didn't have a cell phone with camera.

and that is exactly what I wanted to do, but instead I had to watch the bug in order to go around it, the entire time this bug was moving its body to keep its eyes on me. Smart bug. The reason I had to go around it is because it was between me and the door to the building. So I walked calmly around it because I didn't want to provoke an attack from a hissing strange ant headed, pincer body, scorpian tail bug. Maybe it was someone's science experiment. I mean the science lab back then before the major construction was by that building if not in it. But still it was creepy.

It was small, maybe the size of a soldier ant or regular adult pincer bug. But for something that small it made a loud hissing noise.

Really? I would have expected it to be big, because of the hissing noise...and usually strange bugs are big.

I know I was surprised and freaked out. But then again Panda Bear cubs are born microscopic like no more than the size of your fingernail and yet they emit such a loud noise. No different than this bug. Very smart and aggressive. I respected it and gave it space.

yeah maybe, but I've never seen an ant with a scorpian type tail. or a pincer bug body. Plus I've never ever seen a completly solo ant or alone and I doubt that ant was some kind of queen.

Probably a soldier ant of some sort, that's my guess...

Oh geeze I hope not, that would be one anthill I don't wish to be on any public or private yard.

Maybe it was young. That's why it was so small? Imagine it when it gets older...
