How to Use: Contact Fields
Posted: Thu Mar 07, 2019 4:23 am
Following the forum upgrade back in December that brought the WolfQuest forum up to phpBB 3.2.X (up from 3.0.X), I'm sure most of you will have noticed that we now have some spiffy new contact field entries in the User Control Panel's profile tab.
What is a contact field?
A contact field allows us to set up a quick and easy way for users to link to their profiles on other websites or services. These are purely optional.
Why isn't there a field for...
Either it's a website or service that we cannot allow per the Forum Guidelines, or we haven't considered it yet; we welcome suggestions in the Forum Suggestions thread, but make sure you have checked the "custom contact fields" section of the first post. This post will be kept up-to-date if new entries are added or existing entries are removed.
Which services are disallowed?
Anything listed here is not allowed anywhere on a user's profile. Period. See the section above for an explanation. Where will this information appear?
When a contact field has been filled in, its entry will appear on your mini-profile under the contact icon, as well as appearing on your full profile.

YouTube
Although it is a predefined field, it has been modified in order to better accommodate the use of "channel" OR "user" depending on your account; this seems based on whether or not you have set a custom URL. Some additional user input is required for this field to work correctly.- If you have not defined a custom URL for your account, you'll want to copy and paste channel/IDENTIFIER into the YouTube profile field.
- If you have defined a custom URL for your account or if your account was created before a certain year, you can use user/IDENTIFIER.
