How wolf pack size affects the risk of hunting prey

In the same way that moose hunting in the game is more feasible in multiplayer, pack size makes a difference in what real life wolves decide to hunt in the wild.

This is an interesting study from the U.S. Geological Survey that details the risk that dangerous prey pose to predators and how wolf pack size affects the choice of prey. The results state that a group of 4 wolves is the ideal requirement for success when hunting elk. For bison, the number levels off at 11 wolves, as bison are more dangerous and difficult to kill. This would be worth looking into for anyone wanting to know more about what would be a realistic pack size for hunting larger prey.
