I hope Wolfquest one day evolves into this.

Like what, exactly? Narrated by David Attenborough? Our Dave has a pretty solid narrator voice himself.

That is some beautiful and interesting footage, but I'm not really sure what you are getting at in terms of relating it to WolfQuest - gameplay? Graphics?

Seeing how bison will likely be added one day, I suppose WolfQuest could come closer to the footage shown in the video. Whether it'll ever be as realistic as the real deal remains to be seen, as it obviously is still a game. It would be cool if we could have hunts of that scale on multiplayer, though.

@Anduril Well yes the graphics, but also the gameplay. The large number of animals (big wolf pack and bison herd) and the unique strategy involved in hunting bison.

We should really have a narrator narrate every thing that happens in WolfQuest in a new, cool Documentary Mode. :P

Haha, just kidding.
To a new world of gods and monsters!

We actually did an Attenborough-inspired narration once, in our first game with the Minnesota Zoo:
http://mnzoo.org/games/matchmaker/
(alas, the flash sniffer doesn't work on some browsers anymore, but worked on Firefox for me.)

I am tempted now to bring that actor in to rerecord all my video narrations...

We definitely want to add bison, but as this video shows, bison have their own defense tactics and so will need a lot of new AI (for both bison and wolves), so we won't be able to get to that for awhile yet.

The upcoming version of Unity has some massive core improvements which should allow huge herds....though that only creates new challenges, especially with multiplayer (transmitting movement data without lag for 100+ animals isn't a trivial matter).

Oh wow, can you link me to that thread/post from them? That's super exciting. What part of the roadmap was it that allows for such?

I'm assuming you're talking about Weylenn's post. They asked for a link to a Unity post about the upcoming improvements that would allow for larger herds. In other words, not a link that you'd be able to find on the WolfQuest forums.

Ahh, okay. I thought the topic in the Developers Blog, Ride Of The Wapiti, might be what they were looking for. But never mind!

Look on their blog, their recent roadmap post talks about it.
