I strongly believe that there SHOULD be a way to save my game/progress(aka individuals to do so w/ their games) in wolfquest at ANY time, I really hate that about the game. just saying.... :?

Hrm... If I were in charge;
  • Tidy up the forums and modify FAQ topics to be more up-to-date and slight modifications to the forum guidelines.
  • Replace the lexicon with a blacklist to prevent offensive/inappropriate behaviour and cursing.
  • Add an in-game warning system which could be manually used by WQRT members to benefit their duties; commands such as warn <user> <reason>, close (ends session) and kick <user> <reason>.
  • Add more BBcode (font face, spoiler, reinstate URL code, etc).
  • Wolf smileys... for fairly obvious reason. (;
  • More prey/predators in-game.
  • More realism with player wolves in terms of interactions and animations in both single and multiplayer modes.
  • Fix problem bugs and glitches.
  • Ability to swim and drink.
  • Locomotion system for more character realism.
  • Change forum permissions for COPPA users to allow posting.
  • Funding projects and competitions.
  • Some usergroup tweaks and minor adjustments.
  • Allow all users to utilize IMG tags in Pack Central, THH +sub-forums and a few other forums.
  • Open the WQRT group for join requests and consider moderator applications.
  • Usergroup leaders, since this is a pretty big community.
  • Re-open username change requests.
  • Voluntary unpaid staff positions.
  • Episode 3 and 4.
  • Cookies... cookies for all.

This is not intended in any way; it's a glitch. http://www.wolfquest.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=33493
Savoury Muffin wrote:Pup pelts that are realistic to the parents color, so white wolves had white pups, black wolves had black pups ect
Yet another glitch; pup pelts previously reflected the colouration of parents' coats, but the feature was broken in the last update. ;)
Nothing interesting happens.

I've technically left the forums, but I still end up posting something every few months. Here's what I'd do to get WQ up and running again:

- Start right now. This is the summer - when activity is naturally higher than the rest of the year. If you want people to gather around something, you need to start when they have the most time - and that's when they're not in school.
- Set up a WQ DA account and collect commissions. This was a great idea suggested during the 2012 summer activity boost that Cana reportedly turned down when WQ members suggested it to her via pm in mid-august. I honestly don't see why, this community has plenty of talented artists, and while this may not raise episode 3 funding on its own, it would definitely allow for some much-needed bug fixing.
- Go back to the old format of moderator applications (i.e. the 2011 format). This is far more open and far less daunting then the current format of scouring your post history for your best posts and writing up a 'resume'. The simpler the format, the more people will apply, and you might get a good moderator that wouldn't bother to apply under the daunting 'new format'.
- Reopen donations, store items would be restocked and benefit the WQ project.
- grantwrite to all of Wolfquest's partner sites, excluding the Minnesota Zoo and IWC which have already contributed in such a way.
- Permantely Re-enable URL tags - people can still abuse links through copy-paste links, so disabling the code doesn't really prevent anything.
- Loosen the forum guidelines, update the FAQ, add more user suggestions, make punishment system more set in stone for MP and forums.
- Give RT Members the ability to close an open game or kick members within an open game.
- Possibly start a large fundraising campaign on kickstarter or similar website.
- Possibly loosen moderator expectations.

The following would be enabled on a one-month trial. If they went well, they'd be kept, if not, they'd be reversed.
- Re-allow random, spammy posts in OTT.
- Create an entire board (forum) for wolf roleplays, and another for non-wolf canid roleplays. Roleplaying on pack topics would still be prohibited.
- Re-allow pack accounts.
- Allow minor roleplaying (e.x. *hugs*) site-wide.
- Enable IMG and FLASH tags, and also attachments.
- Allow users to post art on the wolf/canid artwork boards without approval.

And if all this provided episode 3 funding, I'd make sure the WQ Team designed episode 3, and:
- Allow members of any age to apply for unpaid developer/assistant administrator positions.

And of course, keep all facets of the WQ Community running as long as possible.

If money or coding wasn't an issue, here are the changes I would make to the game:

-Be able to drink
-More animals to hunt
-Your mate is a real person and you can talk to them in Lexicon (but there's an option if you want to talk in Phrase or Disabled)
-Fixing minor glitches such as elk disappearing
-Add the cattle ranch to Multiplayer
-The eagles, bears and coyotes are real people playing
-Pups real people playing, but if there were too many trolls then I'd remove the feature (the people playing as the pups could be purposely disobedient, running away from the parents and purposely getting killed by a bear etc.). But then I might change it so that the pups are your real life friends, you type in eachother's emails and it connects you to them or something like that
-Larger world
-More pelt designs
-Like you can bow and wag your tail, I would add a 'growl' too
-Make another episode that has an actual pack storyline to it rather than just a wolf in wildlife
-Change the colour of your wolf's eyes
-Tribal markings
-Be able to fish
-Make the pups grow up
Signature is under construction :3

If I were in charge of WolfQuest.....hmm...if money wasnt a major problem...

The Game

-Try to reduce bugs and crashes, and leave some favored glitches a WQ Easter eggs
-Multiplayer games that involve mating will be almost automatically removed from the game list
-Multiplayer roleplays that do NOT involve wolves will be prohibited
-More types of prey
-Wolf pups that ACTUALLY look like you
-Larger maps
-A log cabin belonging to a hunter in Slough Creek
-When an elk dies, it should be able to fall in another position besides on the side
-A new mission for the end, where wolves can join your pack and your pups grow up
-More players in a multiplayer game
-Multiplayer fights (like in Singleplayer)

The Forum

The forum right now is perfectly fine.

No I think how it is is just fine to me. Except when it gets glitch issues at times.

I would monitor the forum more, not the game. Hire an active admin, and try to clean up the Wolf boards so that they become educational (remove all text speak and incorrect posts, and actually correct users on their mistakes/misconceptions about wolves), pictures, links, and even add rp in the pack sections.

I agree with river6. the forums do need an active admin, and the wolf boards need to be cleaned up.

I would've dropped multiplayer altogether and put all funds and focus on making single player the awesome experience it could have been.

Agreed. Multiplayer isn't even educational about wolves. It defeats the game's purpose now.

  • Although it did attract some people to the project I think. Not saying I support MP 100% though :o ! RiverStrider has a strong point.

So what would make MP more educational?

  • Perhaps players could have to work together in scenarios that the game forces players to do upon entering, like taking down an elk, or defending a territory from other wolves. Basically, having missions like single player, and just being able to tackle them together. That's what I've got off the top of my head!

I like that idea.
