Re: Man who bought wolf on Craigslist must find it a new home

Attention needs to be paid to the person that sold the wolf in the first place. For one, their not suppose to sell animals on Craigslist (except a minor rehousing fee). And secondly, how irresponsible of that breeder to do that. A responsible breeder should have checked references of who and where t...

Re: The mystery of black wolf pelts: solved

Well, I wouldn't consider this fact. But they believe it to be the cause. And aren't the Yellowstone wolves mainly improted from a Canadian subspecies? or somewhere else. Seems like when they reintroduced the wolves, they weren't exactly from Yellowstone to begin with. As they had to reintroduce the...

Re: Northern Woods Pack

I apologize for my lack of being on lately. I did not mean to ignore anyone. I've simply been busy with life and other sites. Hehe, I am not really looking for ranks per sea, just people willing to interact via hunting and chasing on the game... rather then chit chat. I still log on under NorthernWo...

Re: are wolves coneverious or omnivorious?

Wolves are carnivores, just not "strict" carnivores. Yes, wolves do eat grass, berries, insects, and even grapes (in Spain), but it is not enough to classify them as omnivores. They don't really benifit from eating fruits and grasses (as in they don't digest them and gain nutrients from them). Wolve...

Re: Why people think wolves howl at the moon?

Wolves do hunt at night, and hunting at night when a full moon out gives them plenty of light to see what they are doing. And in order to rally a hunt, there would be a lot of howling involved.

It is possible people associated these cercumstances to something else.

Northern Woods Pack

If you are interested in actually participating in wolf like activities and interactions, please feel free to join an open game that is containing this name (NorthernWoods). Generally Lucan and myself (Chenn) will be using it. So, in essence, we would be the "alphas"/pack leaders. I am not looking t...

Re: Minnesota, New Law

Sadly, Pitts and terriers are not the only victims of dog fighting. So, are they going to ban the animals that are use to pit bulls now too? In many places the equipment is banned/illegal for dog fighting. I have a problem with bans... it just taking too many right away. And it still doesn't control...

Re: Minnesota, New Law

Well, I think a license is better than banning the dog breed completely. Of course, it won't fix the problem completely, but hopefully it will discourage those with the intent to get a particular breed because it is an "tough & aggressive" breed, and that it would make the owner look cool to have o...

Re: Minnesota, New Law

the law is to make it so that you need a license to own one. the "few bad cases" can be largely prevented by this. to get a license, the people have to check out your house, make sure you can take care of it, etc. in my opinion, it makes it so that people are actually prepared to maintain the dog, ...

Re: Minnesota, New Law

this is normal, I dont see anything wrong with it. its the way it is in most states. I have issues with anyone wanting to ban a breed because of a few bad cases, some of which are not documented or portrayed correctly... I do not understand how people can think nothing of taking other's rights away...

This was about two years ago. And they had a couple from what I was aware of... As most places do. There is another Zoo that had them here in FL, but I cannot remember which one!

Re: Wolf Pack Behaviour When Alpha Is Pregnant

I am sure during a tense time like this they would. As far as I am aware of, most other wolves, even from the same pack, are not allowed around the den at first. I believe the pups have to be a few weeks old before other pack members are allowed to meet them. Anything is possible. And I am sure a th...

Breeding

I just had a random thought. In dogs, their "ideal" breeding age is I believe 2 to about 5 years old. Obviously, they can breed younger. Does this hold true to wolves as well? Generally I ready about "maturity" about 2 years old... but that doesn't meant they cannot breed at a younger age... Has the...

Re: Unusual color pattern

Its not that unusual. It's a black color phase I suppose. And depending on the age and time of year, it can affect how a black coats look. I have seen images of a black wolf going silver gray with age. Just like dogs get grey muzzle, or their coats get lighter with age. Same thing. Not to mention ev...

Re: wolves in Florida?

I believe Red Wolves are only wild in the most northern reaches of Florida. There are red wolves in the Brevard Zoo, as I recall. But none are wild in the southern reaches. Just maybe a few coyotes and then there are pumas.
